Surgical Treatment of Clawhand Deformity

Abstract
Claw hand deformity is caused by the lost function of intrinsic muscles and it is due to low median nerve and ulnar nerve palsy. Traumatic nerve injury and leprosy are the common cause of that deformity. Sensory loss is accompanied with claw hand deformity and the joint get stiffened by frequent trauma and it is followed by mutilated fingers.
Surgical treatment of the claw hand restored the lost function of hand as well as recovered the inferiority complex of the deformed patient. The purpose of surgery is stabilized the hyperextended MP joint and Stiles-Bunnel and Brand operation are useful method.
